This Week's Prayers
(Meditation: Galatians 1:3-4)
God, how great is Your gift of salvation! Our Savior lived a perfect life, laid it down, and now gives us forgiveness through His perfect life. You laid upon Him the iniquity of us all. He became sin so that we are free from condemnation. He took all our anger and bitterness, all our disobedience and vanity, upon Himself. He became perfectly guilty so that we may become perfectly innocent in Your eyes. He took on the Cross, so that we may take on the Crown. God, how great is Your gift of salvation!
(Meditation: Ephesians 2:8-9)
God, Your grace is powerful. It flows from You like electricity from a great generator, flowing through millions of wires, to supply everyone who is plugged in. Your grace flows like blood from a great heart, flowing through a million arteries, to supply life to every cell in the body. Your grace flows like water from a great reservoir, flowing through a million pipes, to supply everyone who has an open faucet. O God, how great is Your grace! How great Thou art!
(Meditation: Romans 15:4)
God, the Bible was written by those who lived in small towns and worked alone or in small groups, but I am grateful that the Bible is never out of date. Today, we are urbanized, bureaucratic, and in constant touch. We are a society of organizations. Help us to discern what Christian principles apply in setting salaries and prices . . . in budgeting and profits . . . in goal-setting and accountability. God, show us Your will, and guide our stewardship and our lives. In Jesus' name. Amen.
(Meditation: Psalm 143:8-10)
God, my life with You is like a mountain range, with high vistas of faith, and majestic heights of fellowship. But between these sunny peaks there are dark valleys of doubt. Are You really real? Are You really in control of this seemingly random and changing world? When Your Word is ignored, and secular idols stand glistening, are You really there? Is there really life after death? God, help my unbelief. Help me to look to Jesus Who didn't despair, even when the people in His own home town tried to throw Him off a cliff . . . or when Peter denied Him . . . or when people spat in His face . . or when His hands and feet were pierced by spikes. God, when I doubt, help me look straight-on at the Cross, and realize that THIS is how much I matter to You! Help me to lay down my wavering doubts at the Cross, and receive the assurance of YOUR faithfulness. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
(Meditation: James 1:12)
God, if I need to suffer to be close to You, I will suffer. If I need to be led in paths unknown to follow You, I will go. Whatever I need to do to be Your disciple, I will do. God, mold me. Make me Yours. Make my will Your Own. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
