This Week's Prayers
(Meditation: Psalm 9:9-10)
God, in the days when I bear lasting pain and lingering sorrow, may I cast my cares upon You and praise You. In the days when I have short patience and a short temper, may I cast my sins into the sea of repentance, and praise You for Your forgiveness. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
(Meditation: Psalm 23:4)
God, strengthen those who are aging, or ailing, or in mortal danger -- all who face death. Help them to see death as a kind and gentle door that leads beyond fear and pain and death. Help them to cast their fears into the empty tomb, and praise You for resurrection into life eternal. In Jesus' name. Amen.
(Meditation: Ezekiel 28:2)
God, sometimes I try to make You a "Room Service" god. I want You at my beck and call. I'll call You when I need You. I'll tell You what I want. O God, forgive my big ego, and my lack of humility. Guide, and I will follow. In Jesus' name. Amen.
(Meditation: I Corinthians 13:4-7)
Almighty God, You created us and set us in families. Thank You for our wonderful family. Bless each of us, our life together, and our home. Help us, every day, to submit our lives, and our marriage, and our children, to the grace and lordship of Christ. And God, how grateful we are that we are members of Your covenant family! Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
(Meditation: James 1:17-18)
God, I try to earn Your favor. When I think I'm succeeding, I feel like I deserve it, and selfish pride takes over. And when I fail to earn Your favor, I feel guilty. But God, You don't play this game. It's not about me. You are in control, I can do nothing to earn Your favor. It is a gift, paid for by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. God, I'm glad I can't earn Your favor. I'm glad that You first loved me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
