(Meditation: I Corinthians 13:4-7)

God, thank You for our home; for a wonderful place to go when we are tired and weary. Make it a place where we can all take our troubles -- not a place where troubles grow. Make it a place where we can take our fears -- not a place to learn fear and mistrust. Make it a place to take our disappointments -- not a place to cause disappointments. Make it a place to take our rejections -- not a place to be rejected. Make it a place to take our loneliness -- not a place to be made lonely. May our home be a place of love. And may our home send forth love in Christ's name. Amen.

(Meditation: II Corinthians 1:3-4)

God, she had a miscarriage. Even though her own life was threatened, her heart was breaking. She felt helpless as the little life drained out of her body. Her husband was helpless, too, as he stood nearby, tears running down his cheeks. They had been so excited about the baby. God, may they grow closer to each other, and closer to You, because of the loss they've shared. Be very near to them when they stand together and look at their empty nursery. Replace their grief with meaning, and their emptiness with hope. In Jesus' name. Amen.

(Meditation: Titus 2:11-14)

Dear God, restore to our nation the meaning of common decency based upon Your Word . . . restore the quest for truth . . . restore the integrity of right and wrong . . . restore the true meaning of sin . . . restore us as one nation under God . . . restore our unity as Americans, with liberty and justice for all. In Jesus' name. Amen.

(Meditation: Proverbs 22:6)

Eternal and everlasting God, I am so grateful that our children and grandchildren love You. I am so grateful that they share their faith with others. And I am so grateful that their lives reflect that their trust is in You. Through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

(Meditation: Galatians 5:22-23)

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." God, does this verse describe my own fruit-bearing? Guide and direct me so that the fruit of the Spirit will be manifest in my ways, and grow in my life. I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
